Tell Us About Your Design

The design is a one sleeved cocktail dress. There is are fabric manipulations including trapunto and combining pieces of other fabrics to create a new fabric that has a patchwork look. I used batting to create the padding for the trapunto effect and simply placed top stitching over the batting after placing it inside of the fabric. The sleeve has two layers and has a bell effect to it. The same fabric used for the sleeve is also incorporated throughout the body of the dress.

Who or What Were Your Biggest Inspirations During This Process?

The dress was fully draped to get the interesting folds and pleats throughout the design. It happened very organically and so it felt very natural while making this dress. I was inspired by birds in this design which is why I named this dress the Phoenix dress. I also was very inspired by combining different fabrics to create something new and original.

Which Retailer(s) Would You Most Like to Sell Your Design?
