this dress was inspired by a book called the poison diaries and I was most inspired by the the poisonous plant hemlock and how it was depicted in the story. It is this very deadly and prickly

Judges’ Comments: “There are some good elements here but a bit of editing would help. I LOVE the bodice. The rock n’ roll black leather with gold stud corset top is awesome and I can see how this would be a Prom favorite and give Dads across the country a heart-attack. I am not loving the spider web fabric underneath the tulle. Too cheesy and it takes away from the top (which should be the only focal point). With a bit of editing, I think this would be a great dress for the 16-24 set.” – Cynthia Smoot

Nashville native Truly Alvarenga’s collection concentrates on edgy designs with intricate layers of detail, and her work ranges from radical rock and roll to youthful Harajuku. Having interned for Anna Sui and other NYC designers she decided to start her own label. She currently divides her time between her studio and workshop in Hanover, N.H. and her design base in Nashville.
